Ukraine Launches Mass Production of New Defensive Drones
Ukraine has announced the commencement of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to strengthen its aerial protection systems. The first three producers have begun production, with 11 more getting ready to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.
Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Battlefield Conditions
These UAVs will be based on a nationally created technology called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and proved effective “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing as many as 1,000 defensive drones each day.
Latest Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate
Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and wicked” after six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital just after 12 AM on Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.
Zelenskyy stated the country was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed were at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.
Diplomatic Protest Following Diplomatic Compound Damage
The Azerbaijani government announced it issued a formal objection to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile destroyed part of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in significant destruction to the embassy grounds, officials from Baku stated. No one was hurt, and a ministry spokesperson confirmed the Kyiv embassy was maintaining operations.
Russian Aerial Bomb Production Sees Significant Increase
Moscow plans to produce as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, among them 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that can reach additional urban centers. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with last month’s average daily usage standing at approximately 170, based on official military statistics.
Ukrainian Attacks Focus on Russian Energy Infrastructure
Moscow's maritime terminal of the port city temporarily suspended crude shipments this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had fired domestically produced missiles and used various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”
Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region during the night.
Global Sanctions Impact Russian Oil Producer
The number two energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it is negotiating with interested parties concerning its international holdings following last month’s sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced after the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” the company stated.
Zelenskyy Schedules Visit to Spain
Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to confer with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with deputies from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, the Spanish statement confirmed.
