Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president addressed journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid policing efforts in DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the administration to pause asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor informed the gathering at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
