That Gruesome Cartoon Film Ending That Haunts Audiences
Out of every adult-oriented cartoon movies I have ever watched, nothing has remained with me as much as the dread-soaked finale of a graphically gory and overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.
Back in the year 2015, the Spanish writer-director crafted a grim, melancholy , often savage universe with several minor , forlorn glimmers of optimism.
Although Unicorn Wars feels like it came from a drive to push animation further, the filmmaker clarified that it was rather an attempt to convey a global, multicultural message about âthe shared root of every conflict.â
That message is communicated through a squad of brightly hued teddy bears , obviously modeled after a well-known series of lovable characters.
Maturing in a community centered on militarism and the war machine, a lot of these animals are consumed by exterminating unicorns, because of a holy book which states the bears they previously were masters of the woodland, until these creatures forced them out.
Others have not completely accepted the indoctrination, , choose to try out substances and fornicate in the woods.
In contrast to their friendly equivalents, these bright beings have visible sexual organs and definite urges.
For a certain particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, the character Bluey, the conflict against the unicorns transforms into a road to control â and specifically to authority above his gentler, kinder brother Tubby.
Bluey behaves aggressively and a seeming antisocial figure , and while fear overcomes his squad and kills his comrades individually, he grabs progressively power on his own behalf, through ever more gory, harmful methods.
Simultaneously, the horned creatures are enduring their own terror, through a spreading, harmful creature in their habitat.
âAt the beginning, it seems like a humorous movie,â the filmmaker said. âYet it evolves into a more intense and sad movie. And by the end, itâs a terrifying movie.â
Unicorn Wars starts out resembling one of the more whimsical films from a legendary filmmaker, which find a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures swear, fire weapons, or engage sexually.
Then it evolves into closer to a bleaker movie from that creator, featuring progressively visual gore , a noticeable relation to the real suffering of conflict.
In the finale, it becomes a complete theatrical horror massacre.
The terror which makes the film a Halloween-friendly watch starts a lot earlier than one might expect.
The Unicorn Wars is one for the hardcore gorehounds, for lovers of graphic films who wish to see a movie they havenât ever seen on-screen before, and can endure a story that offers no restraint.
See it in a dark room without any distractions, and the finale will crawl deep within you and stay with you.
