Supporters Demand Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the actress are demanding that a man who jumped a barricade and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the Australian man pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though court documents showed that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed features clips of him disrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Safety
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another response on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while some demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-film version of the well-known stage production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising friendship between two distinct characters.
The show itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
