Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
