Jurgen Klopp says a return to lead Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-year spell that included continental glory and the Premier League crown in 30 years, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

They secured England's top flight under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead another team on English soil. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, which suggests I might decide down the line, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations must arise to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly for his successor, acknowledging his role for the tweaks which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated four in a row across various tournaments following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect at the club. The forward died tragically in a car crash alongside his brother in July.

“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Unbearable.”
