Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
