Actor Refutes Anti-Vax Views After Narrating Contentious Covid Documentary
The acclaimed actor has given his narration to a recent film that questions the efficacy of vaccines and commends ex- cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Film's Contentious Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a well-known publication published by a disgraced researcher, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for assertions that Covid was linked to a bad strain of the influenza shot.
The publication's co-author, a producer, has previously authored books with far-right figure a known commentator. He wrote online celebrating Neeson's role in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Rebuttal
A spokesperson for Neeson have issued a comment firmly refuting implications that he supports anti-vax sentiments.
"We all understand that unethical practices might be present within the medical sector, but that must not be equated to rejection of vaccines," the statement states. "Liam is not, and is not, anti-vax. His considerable work with the UN children's agency highlights his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The response noted that the performer did not shape the project's editorial content and that concerns about its assertions are best addressed to the creators.
Central Themes Featured in the Feature
In the film, the voiceover read by Neeson features several strong points:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It posits that "research has become deeply politicised."
- Kennedy is featured stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The narration also criticizes stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding the immunizations, it references a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Context and Ongoing Issues
The film further cites a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was afterwards the subject of a formal apology by the network for violations of guidelines.
Recently, the political figure directed the national health agency to change its long-held position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is echoed in the documentary, despite a recent study from the World Health Organisation stating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Position of Support
Contrasting the documentary's tone, Neeson has previously expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
The film concludes with Neeson's script saying, "This is not the conclusion of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a fresh chapter."
